9 DAYS COMBINED SKI TOURING IN TOUBKAL & SAHARA RESERT TRIP - SKIFAHREN IN MAROKKO BERGEN

The High Atlas Mountains are one of the most exotic ski touring destinations, and skiing in this country that evokes more desert and beaches is an experience that will not leave you indifferent. Toubkal, the highest point of North Africa to 4167 m is surrounded by high mountains forming a barrier, 80 km south of Marrakech. This, as well as the altitude and the collection of valleys allow a constant snow during the winter. During this skiing tour in Morocco, we will stay in shelters or Berbers houses, and each step will bring us to the discovery of a new valley, and unusual and beautiful landscapes. We will also be accompanied by a local team: guide, cook, porters and mules to carry our equipment when we have to walk in the valley. Original!


Itinerary

Day One: MENARA AIRPORT – HOTEL

Arrival at Marrakech airport reception and transfer to the hotel overnight with breakfast

Day Two: MARRAKECH - IMLIL 1700M -TOUBKAL MONTAGNE HUT 3207M

After breakfast transfer to Imlil village the starting point of your ski tour, a steady climb takes you to the refuge of Toubkal Hut installation, dinner and overnight

Day Three: TOUBKAL HUT 3207M -TOUBKAL SUMMIT 4167M

Your first day of skiing, actually begin the ascent of Mount Toubkal, the latter which is the highest in North Africa, a beautiful view across the mountains, then you will settle in valleys great, then back to the Hut

Day Four: TOUBKAL HUT 3207M – AKIOUD PEAK 4045M – REFUGE

Today, we will walk on skis towards Akioud peak 4045m from where we will have a very good skiing descent to the refuge. Overnight. 5h.

Day Five: REFUGE – RAS N’OUANKRIM PEAK 4089M- AREMD VILLAGE 1940M

After breakfast, we will target mount Ouankrim for our last descents in Toubkal surrounding peaks. This will be a great descent too! It's worth it when you reach the peak. You will have nice views over the snowcapped peaks! back to the refuge where you will have lunch before skiing down to Aremd village where you will spend the night at a nice lodge.

Day Six: AROUMD VILLAGE – TIZI N’TICHKA – TELOUAT KASBAH – AIT BEN HADDOU – OUARZAZAT – GORGE DADES

First we cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass of the High Atlas Mountains. You will pass through many Berbers villages, and once in the desert, riverside oasis and barren hillsides are clustered with Kasbahs. After lunch we drive further to Valley of the Roses, with beautiful views of the Dades valley, valley of a thousand Kasbahs. Overnight in Dades.

Day Seven: GORGE DADES – MERZOUGA DESERT

After breakfast we drive to Todra Gorge and after a short stop there we drive on to "Auberge" at the dunes of Erg Chebbi We will arrive there around 4 and after a short break you will ride camels into the dunes, where you will spend the night in Berbers tents. After seeing a beautiful sunset you will enjoy a fantastic dinner.

Day Eight: MERZOUGA DESERT – MARRAKECH

After viewing the most beautiful sunrise and having breakfast at the camp site you will ride the camels back to the Auberge from there it will be a long day driving back to hotel in Marrakech, again via Tichka pass.

Day Nine: HOTEL - MENARA AIRPORT

Transfer to the airport assistance with departure formalities.

Clothes and Equipments:

Should be dress according to altitude and the environment you will be located in. The most hikers are in high altitude climate in remote area. Therefore, there are often large temperature swings. Temperatures are usually colder at the high altitudes.

Trekking Clothes:

  • Trekking boots or light weight walking shoes. Have comfortable footwear is essential for a good trek. Make sure all footwear is broken in well prior to your trek. Do not break in boots on your trek,
  • A track suit and a pair of track shoes to wear in lodges
  • Two pairs of woolen socks for trekking shoes and track shoes,
  • Warm down jacket and rain proof jacket with hood for protection from rain
  • Warm hat for the cold and sun hat or cap for sunny days
  • A pair of woolen gloves and a pair sandals
  • Cotton T-shirts and pairs of long shorts/skirts
  • Woolen shirts and thick sweaters as well as wind and water proof trousers
